After the holidays, many people put away ornaments and decorations, but quilters and knitters plan a new project to keep their creativity going during the cold months ahead.

A good place to get a creative jolt is The Quilting and Fiber Art Marketplace. This shopping experience will be held Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 and Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at the Dennis Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St., Sanford, NC 27330.  Hours are 9 am – 5 pm on Friday and 9 am – 4 pm on Saturday.  Anyone who enjoys quilting or knitting will find many shops to inspire creativity.  Bring your friends and join us for a day of shopping, creativity, friendship, fabric, fibers and food.  Treat yourself to a day immersed in fabrics, books, patterns, yarns, buttons, sewing machines and long arm quilting machines, mixed media and more.  Some sweet baked goods and famous chicken salad from Mrs. Lacy’s Magnolia House will make the day complete.

Each day will be filled with special activities.  Everyone who attends the QFAM will have a chance to win hourly door prizes, a sewing machine, and a huge gift basket.  The first 100 people in the door each morning will get two chances to win all these prizes.  Many of the shops will feature “Early Bird Specials”  during the first hour of the show.  Arrive early and spend the day.

Friday afternoon, at 3pm, Find X Designs from Sanford, NC will sponsor a drawing for a Smarter 140s Pfaff sewing machine.  Find X Designs will also feature quilting and knitting supplies.

Saturday afternoon, at 3 pm, Ye Olde Forest Quilt Shop from Greensboro, NC will sponsor a drawing for a Magnolia 7330 Janome sewing machine. Ye Olde Forest Quilt shop will also feature quilting fabrics, patterns books and notions.  They will gladly answer any questions you have about APQS Longarm quilting machines.  You must be present to win either of the sewing machine drawings.

Visitors to the The Quilting and Fiber Art Marketplace will enjoy the varied selection of a “shop hop” without the stress of driving from shop to shop.  Parking is free and good food is available on site.  At the QFAM more than 30 shops are under one roof for your shopping pleasure.  Stroll our aisles and enjoy what each shop has to offer.  Small businesses will open their doors to you…….
