Falling Acorns

September 3, 2013

The days are getting a little shorter and occasionally you can feel a touch of fall. What better time to tackle a new project! Last year I submitted a block to Quiltmaker Magazine’s Fall issue of “100 Blocks”. When I created the block, I also quickly made up a wallhanging using that block, and a variation of it, for the center of the quilt and the corner blocks. I was hoping that they would include it in the magazine. But, when I sent them photos of the quilt, they decided to hold onto it in order to include it in their magazine  “Quilts From 100 Blocks”. I’m happy to report that this issue just hit the news stands and I am so excited to be included!

I’m giving away two copies of the magazine by random drawing on Tuesday, September 10. Simply comment below telling me what you love most about Fall. You can increase your chance to win by also “Liking” my Facebook page, Hissyfitz Designs,  and come back here to tell me that you have “liked” my page. If you are already a fan of my page just tell me that too.

Best of luck to you and I hope you are working on a project that you love.

What a fun design. My favorite part of fall is being covered with a quilt as I am binding it.

I saw you earlier on Quilty Pleasures. This quilt has a very “clean” design, I think because you used the black in the background. My favorite thing about fall? Summer is my favorite time of year, so I guess I would say the goodies from the garden that are finally ripe and pumpkins. Sorry, I don’t Facebook, but I do “like” you.

Congratulations, Sandy! The quilt is lovely. I think it would be fun to use the texturizng technique that you use with the gourds.
I love the beautiful fall colors and the crisp air.

I always love your work and sure do like this pattern. I already like you on facebook. I finally got my sewing room arranged with the cubicles from Ikea and made a bedroom out of my sewing room also. Your arrangement sparked me to make some changes, which was in the making for over 7 years. LOL you can see the floor and thanks to you for being an inspiration to me.

I love being outside and in the Fall it seems much easier because everything is cool and fresh smelling as we all quietly put our gardens to bed. Fall colors are just the best. Judy C in NC.
